Assistant Coach Jim Brown

Coach Brown is the Defensive Line Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. This is his first year at Alpharetta High School. Coach Brown has 23 years of experience coaching football at the varsity high school and collegiate level, most recently serving as Defensive Line Coach at Lassiter High School (2008-2012) and Head Coach at Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus, GA (2012-2016). He is a certified social studies teacher with 20 years of experience and he teaches IRR American Government and Economics at Alpharetta High School.

Before becoming a teacher and coach, he served 13 years on active duty as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. While on active duty, he served as a member of the elite 75th Airborne Ranger Regiment, and Instructor and Company Commander at the U.S. Army Ranger School. He was also a senior tactics instructor for the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Currently, Jim is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve with a combat tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2010. He is married to wife, Penny, for 32 years. Jim has two children, Ashlie (31), Cory (28) and 4 grandchildren.
