Coach Jim Brown is in his 4th year at Alpharetta High School. He is the Defensive Line coach and is the Special Teams Coordinator. He is married to wife, Penny L. Brown for 35 years. Jim has two children, Ashlie 34 and Cory 31 and 4 grandchildren. He has coached football at both the varsity high school and varsity collegiate levels with 27 years of football coaching experience. Jim has a wealth of football coaching experience as a high school head football coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator as well as an assistant athletic director and defensive coordinator at the collegiate level. He is a certified social studies teacher with a bachelor of science degree in Political Science and master’s degree in History. He has 23 years of teaching experience at the high school level and, he teaches IRR World History and United States History at Alpharetta High School. Before becoming a teacher and coach, he served 13 years on active duty as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army. While on active duty, he served as a member of the elite 75th Airborne Ranger Regiment and, Instructor and Company Commander at the U.S. Army Ranger School. He was also a senior ROTC instructor at the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University. Also, he was a senior tactics instructor for the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Currently, Jim is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve with a combat tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2010.
